PLANS FOR EXPANSION
With the influx of new families moving into Cherry Hill coupled with the increase of our Shul's membership, our current building lacks the necessary space needed to keep up with our growth. Aaron Roller has been altruistically leading our Building Committee on working to finalize plans for the future building of Young Israel of Cherry Hill. An extension to our already existing structure will enable us to triple the number of seats in our sanctuary. The Young Israel presently owns the land behind the Shul which will expedite the expansion process. It is our intention to make great strides toward starting construction in the imminent future.

Our Current Building:
Updates:
December 8, 2017: Building update to be presented to the congregation at the next board meeting on Jan. 7 with display of concept and site drawings for the expansion.

November 2, 2017: YI President Ari Miller and Building Chair Aaron Roller, along with architects from Bannett Architects and K2 Engineering, met with Township Planning officials for an informal review of the building plans. The purpose of the informal review was to give the Township officials a "head's up" on our plans and get any feedback from them that might inform our proposal when we submit the plans for approval from the Planning Board. The officials were generally encouraging and provided some advice on elements to make sure to include in our proposal, which were gratefully appreciated. The next step is to hire the engineers to begin the actual proposal. The engineer's contract was received on Tuesday, November 7. Thanks to Building Committee Members Rivka Jungreis and Akiva Horowitz for review of the engineering contract.

October 26, 2017: the Building Committee met with the architects to provide comments on the design for the building expansion. Next week the Committee and architects will bring the plans to the Township for an informal meeting to get feedback for when we submit the plans to the planning commission.
