Rabbi Jonathan Bienenfeld is formerly the rabbi of Congregation Etz Chayim, a synagogue of 250 member units in Toledo, Ohio. During his three year tenure at Etz Chayim, Rabbi Bienenfeld developed a reputation as a highly skilled teacher, lecturer, and public speaker, both within the synagogue and the greater Jewish community.
Among his achievements in Toledo are the formation of "Ohr Chadash," a new religious school program housed at his synagogue, the reestablishment of an active NCSY chapter in Toledo, and a significant expansion of the adult education opportunities and social programs offered at the shul.
Rabbi Bienenfeld also spent time cultivating relationships with unaffiliated members of the Jewish community and with the students at the local Hillel house on the University of Toledo campus.
Prior to serving the Toledo community, Rabbi Bienenfeld received his smicha from Rabbi Doniel Lander at Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim in Queens, where he also studied for three years as a member of the Kollel Elyon, and received his B.A. in Judaic Studies from Touro College. He completed a rabbinic internship under the tutelage of Rabbi Marc Penner at the Young Israel of Holliswood, where he and his wife, Sarah, also served as the shul's co-youth directors.
